Popa Taung Kalat from Mt. Popa

View of Popa Taung Kalat (cooled volcanic lava formation from the ancient eruption - now a 736 meters high hill with monasteries and pagodas) from Mt. Popa extinct volcano. 1518 meters high Mt. Popa is located 67 km to the east of Bagan - a Buddhist archaeological site of Myanmar. Usually visitors would climb the vertical ladders to the volanic cone to see monasteries, spirit houses, monkeys as well as to listen to the old mythical stories. Climbing to the summit of Mt. Popa in the clear day would give the chance to see the surrounding plain possibly including Bagan dotted with temples. Photographer location is Popa mountain resort.
