On the road to Mt Popa

This photo was taken in a morning of August 2001, on the way from Nyaung Oo to Mt Popa. Popa was partly covered by the clouds. The small cup shape mountain on the slope on the right is Popa volcanic plug (736 meters) with pagodas and spirit houses on its top. The summit of Popa is 1518 meters. Nyaung Oo to Popa village at the foot is 29 miles or 46.4 km. Along the way there are fields of peanut, toddy palm trees and some plantation under the reforestation project.
