Scene from a train before arrival Mandalay

Morning view from a Yangon - Mandalay train before arrival Mandalay. Taken in July 2004 the photo shows the rainy season scene of paddy fields, temple pagoda, village houses hidden amids trees, and the hills in the distance.

Between the capital Yangon and Mandalay there are four or five passenger trains on each direction. One of them offers private compartments with sleeping berths. They usually take around 14 or 16 hours. In addition there is a slower mail train once a day each way, which takes about 21 hours.
