Ye-the-taung Camp, Kyaikhtiyo pagoda mountain

Ye The Taung camp and car park, few kilometers away from the famous Kyaikhtiyo (Golden Rock) pagoda at 1100 meters above sea level. Kyaikhtiyo pagoda was believed to be built in 574 BC, during the life time of Buddha. In the past cars could only reach to the base camp (Kin Pun Camp) located about 160 km from Yangon, and from the base camp visitors had to trek 11km up hill to the Pagoda platform. Now tourists can get to this Ye The Taung camp by car thus leaving only a short distance hike to the pagoda. However there are several interesting places scattering along the Kyaikhtiyo mountains to which ones need to go on foot.
