Lisu village

A Myanmar student taking care of a sick child in a Lisu village located some 17 km north of Mae Hong Son town, northern Thailand. She was doing her internship in Bangkok. She collected used books, clothes and some writing materials. In July 2002 she and her Thai friend travelled to the Lisu settlement where they set up a reading room and donated the books and clothes.

Most of the older people in the Lisu village had come from Myanmar's Shan state. Their former settlement in Thailand was on the high land far from the road. This new place is 500 meters from the road. However they have no electricity, water, toilets, school and the land to farm. They were said to be waiting to become Thai residents.

The place is called "Lisu Kung Pa-Tueng Village".
