Tours - 4 Days 3 Nights Yangon and around

An introduction for people who do not have much time, but want to have a taste of the capital and around. The tour is not rush, it just does not have many places to go. Good enough for 4 days.

Shwedagon pagoda Day 1: Arive Yangon
You should arrive Yangon in the morning, if not it is still fine. Meet at the airport and transfer to the hotel. After the introduction go for the city tour to see the lives and sounds of people, pagodas, river jetty, the markets and in the evening Shwedagon pagoda which is 109 meter high gold plated stupa built on a hill in the center of city. Overnight hotel in Yangon.

Day 2: To Bago and Kyaikhtiyo hill-top pagoda
Breakfast at hotel. Pick you in the morning and you will travel to the old Mon city of Bago, 80 km north-east of the capital. On the way you can visit the allied World War II cemetry just outside the city.

If the time is September or October you will see yellow color paddy fields on both sides of the highway. If it is in the rainy season (June, July to September) the fields would be green. In Bago you will visit a couple of pagodas including an reclining Buddha statue called Shwethalyaung pagoda.

Continue driving to the east. After crossing the Sitting river by a bridge you will enter Mon state. At about 100 km from Bago you will arrive at the base camp of Kyaikhtiyo pagoda mountain, where you will switch to a shuttle ferry truck to go uphill to the upper level parking station. A 20 to 30 minutes walk on a nature trail to the hotel.

After a rest walk a kilometer and a half to Kyaikhtiyo (also called Golden Rock) pagoda. The pagoda was built in the life time of Buddha in the year 574 BC, on a rock which has been resting on the very edge of a rock table at an elevation of 1100 meters. There are several kilometers of nature trail you can walk to explore the theme park like surrounding. There are smaller pagodas, spirit houses, and so on. From the highest point of the area you can have a 360 degree panorama view of the region.

Overnight hotel in the mountain.

Royal lake in Yangon Day 3: Back to Yangon
Early risers can have a sun rise view from a good location. After the breakfast you can have another visit of the pagoda and an hour of moring walk amids the clean and fresh air. You will then go down to the base station in a ferry shuttle truck to our waiting car.

Before going back to Yangon there is a small Mon town called Kyaikto at approximately 15 km from the base camp. In Kyaikhtiyo visit a local market selling some sea products from the nearby Gulf of Moattama.

At Bago you will take the southern route to Thanlyin (Syriam) in the southern bank of Yangon and Bago rivers. Thanlyin was an important trading port in 17th century under the Portuguese colonial administration. Old building ruins of historic buildings can be seen. Visit Kyaik Khuk pagoda. Then head northward back to Yangon via the bridge over Bago river.

Overnight hotel in Yangon.
