Kyaikhtiyo pagoda trip in January 2012
A trip to Kyaikhtiyo pagoda (golden rock pagoda) from Yangon in January 2012.
The trip was done during the Chinese new year (long) holiday period so the pagoda area was very crowded.
Kyaikhtiyo pagoda was built on a rock resting on a cliff at about 1100 meter elevation in Kyaik Hto township
in Mon state, eastern Myanmar. Buses from Yangon takes 4 hour via Bago to Kinpun camp (foot of the hill).
You will take a truck to upper level (Ye Thae Taung) car parking from where it is
20 to 30 minutes walk up to the mountain-top.
