Myanmar country scenes in hand paintings

Water for home
Carrying water for home

A village woman is carrying an earthen pot with water she has collected from a stream. Clean water supply is still a difficult problem in the rural Myanmar (Burma). Most of the villages depend on the water from the nearby river streams. Collecting water is a time consuming job. Some villages have wells, but some do not. In the mountainous areas with de-forestation problems (there are many such areas) the water sources (streams and under-ground water) are diminishing year by year.
